Crewe Train Station

Crewe Train Station is a historic and important station on the West Coast Mainline and the rail gateway to North West England.

It was established in 1837 with the opening of the Grand Junction Railway, a line linking the London and Birmingham Railway to the Liverpool and Manchester Railway. The Grand Junction Railway based their massive engineering works here and the town of Crewe developed around it.

With 12 platforms the station is one of the largest in the North West. Intercity services from Crewe Train Station include trains to Birmingham New Street, Cardiff Central, Edinburgh Glasgow Central, and London Euston.

The station is situated on Nantwich Road, just south of Crewe town centre. The Crewe Arms Hotel, one of the first railway hotels, is close to the station. Crewe Alexandra FC’s stadium, the Alexandra Stadium on Gretsy Road, is also nearby.

Crewe Train Station has reasonable facilities including the Crewe Hero (a pub/bar on Platform 6), a café, a sandwich shop, and a branch of WHSmith.

There’s a covered taxi rank and drop-off zone outside the main entrance to the station. To find Crewe Train Station with your satellite navigation system use the postcode CW2 6HR.

There are several official station car parks nearby. Just west of the station there are long and short-term car parks on Pedley Street, close to the British Transport Police station (postcode CW2 7AA). There’s also a car park on Weston Road, to the east of the station. Parking fees apply.

Reviews and Additional Information

  1. Appreciated the service provided on Thursday evening during the chaos caused by weather conditions. Arrived from Stafford unaware of the issue and although the indicator boards were inactive there were extra staff to provide assistance. The frequent and repeated announcements over public address system ensured that everyone was regularly informed of the situation and departures.
Ironically my service, Caledonian Sleeper arrived early and arrived in Inverness on time.
