History and Ownership – Euro Garages

Rivington Services opened in 1971 and was first called Anderton Services. It was later renamed Rivington Services and then Bolton West Services.

Euro Garages, a Blackburn-based company now called the EG Group, acquired Bolton West Services in 2009. The acquisition came after years of criticism and bad reviews that had dubbed Bolton West Services the worst service area in the United Kingdom. The company demolished and replaced the existing buildings with modern designs and facilities. The new owners reverted to the name Rivington Services.
