Summerseat Train Station is a railway station on the East Lancashire Railway. It serves Summerseat, a small village on the River Irwell just south of Ramsbottom.
The station is unmanned and has few facilities other than a shelter and benches. It’s very pretty and well-maintained though, with flower beds and potted plants.
It is located just south of the village, at the junction of Rowlands Road and Railway Street. There’s a small car park next to the platform. Parking is free for ELR passengers.
The station doesn’t have its own postcode but users of satellite navigation systems should find that BL9 5QB will get them to Railway Street.
Summerseat and the surrounding area is very picturesque. The station is on the route of our walk from Ramsbottom to Bury. You could do the whole walk and catch a train back to Bury, or catch a train to Summerseat and just do part of it.
