This is an easy walk around Chorlton Water Park in Chorlton, Manchester. It follows a well-maintained flat path and is suitable for all ages and abilities.
The walk starts at the public car park. This is located at the end of Maitland Avenue (postcode M21 7WH). Parking here is free. There are toilets at the car park.
From the car park we headed down to the lake. We then headed west, following the northern shore of the lake. The path goes through woodland but there are plenty of opportunities on the route to stop at the water’s edge.
At the western end of the lake there are several spots offering great views of the entire lake.
Heading along the southern shore we came across a sensory garden. Shortly after this we got a view of the River Mersey.
The path running alongside the River Mersey is part of the Trans Pennine Trail. It also leads to Sale Water Park.
On reaching the eastern end of the lake we came to the children’s playground. From here it’s just a short walk back to the starting point.
