This small station is one of two serving the Westhoughton area of Bolton (the other is Daisy Hill Train Station).
In recent years it has been transformed by the Friends of Westhoughton Station into one of the most attractive train stations in North West England. The volunteer group has cleared away rubbish, planted flower beds, and installed ornaments, statues and artwork. It’s well worth visiting just to see the improvements that have been made.

The station is unstaffed but offers a fairly large car park and passenger shelters.

Westhoughton Train Station is situated on Church Street. The car park is accessed from Trackside Approach (postcode BL5 3NG), a side road just north of the station entrance.
